Substitutions for Standard Magick Ritual Items

It happens to us all at some point. You want to perform a ritual or spell, but you've just ran out of something you use as part of your regular rituals, or you're not at home. Here are some suggestions on substitutes for standard ritual and spell items.

Incense Represents Air Feather; yellow stone or candle; fan; picture of a bird; bell.
  Charging and purification Sunlight; moonlight; running water.
  A particular smell to trigger a state of consciousness Another incense. Frankincense or sandalwood are good all-purpose scents; scented candle; aromatherapy oils; potpourri.
  Call to a particular Being Prayer; offering of other favorite things.
Candles Represents Fire Red or orange stone; a volcanic stone.
  Provide lighting Lanterns; a normal light with a dimmer or a colored bulb; campfire; sunlight; moonlight.
  A particular color, to fuel spells A white candle.
Scented Oil Anointing people and objects Vegetable oil, especially olive; blessed water.
  A particular smell to trigger a state of consciousness Incense of the desired scent; sandalwood or frankincense oil; scented candle; potpourri.
Wine Offering drink Any drink that might be pleasing to the deities and spirits involved. Beer, mead, fruit juices, water.
